PEEK, or polyetheretherketone, is a high-performance thermoplastic with a wide range of advantageous properties. These include exceptional resilience at high temperatures, abrasion resistance, biocompatibility, resistance to ultra-high vacuum environments, outstanding chemical resistance, and suitability for CNC machining.

As a semi-crystalline thermoplastic material, PEEK can withstand continuous operation at temperatures up to 260°C and exhibits high levels of chemical resistance. It is important to note that certain acids such as sulphuric acid can dissolve the material. CNC machining of PEEK is commonly utilized for manufacturing components intended for use in extreme environments that demand mechanical strength, chemical stability and/or high-temperature resistance. Applications span across various industries including medical devices, aerospace equipment and automotive components.

The versatility of machining PEEK allows for a wide array of applications that capitalize on its exceptional properties. When compared to other engineering plastics,PEEK has very few drawbacks. One notable advantage lies in its heat resistance; it can operate at elevated temperatures longer than most other plastics.
